Core Functionalities

Carmen is a modular robot control software

Carmen uses the inter-process communication plattform IPC

  • Process monitoring
   * Robot hardware support for different plattforms (see here)
   * Hardware support for SICK laser range finder and GPS receiver
   * Robot/sensor simulator (in 2d)
   * Path planning module
   * Localization module
   * Scan-matching and mapping module
   * Message logging and playback functionality
   * Centralized parameter server
   * Several useful functions when working/programming with robots
   * Carmen is written in C, but provides Java support
   * Carmen runs under Linux and is available under GPL
